Iza tired. For those who do not yet know me, that means “I am tired.” LoL.
Why am I tired? Well, I just came from Walmart. That’s enough said right? I was getting slightly frustrated, annoyed. The usual when you go there. They didn’t have enough lines open that are not self check, but had too many self check open and the self check lines were problematic, again as usual. Yes I was in a self check line and I had to get assistance twice.
Anywho, I went to the store because I needed some veggies, so I decided to get some fruit also.
I wanted to definitely get a pineapple, because I was about to start juicing and I only had one pineapple. This particular pineapple had been in my fridge for quite some time.
Before I left for the store I cut it to see if parts were still good. I was so surprised, it was delicious. I knew I needed more than one. So off to the store I went.
For months, I had really been wanting some popcorn. I just hadn’t bought any for whatever reason. I think I had eaten some a few months back while at the movies. I used to keep several boxes in the pantry.
So I decided to buy some, yes, with butter. LOL! I put cayenne pepper on mine, I love it spicy. Actually I put cayenne on a lot of my food.
Before I picked it up and put it in the basket, I just stood there for a few seconds, maybe 30. I was trying to decide if I truly wanted it.
I truly believe you shouldn’t deprive yourself too much because you will definitely fail, in your attempt to improve your health.
I didn’t want to buy on a whim. I realized I had been doing so well, eating healthier.
Most of the time I’m in the store I think about getting some popcorn, but I never do. This time I decided I would reward myself with a little cheat, because I have definitely gotten back on track.
Yes, even I get off track. Maybe on a future post I will describe these last 5 months and my health issues. We all know how great popcorn tastes. Yummy!
Did you know per wikepedia, in 2007, the Weaver Popcorn Company became the first company to remove diacetyl, a controversial butter flavoring, from its Pop Weaver microwave popcorn products. They are one of the only major companies that use Canola Oil for their products. This is a healthy alternative to soybean, coconut or sunflower oil.
The United States National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has suggested diacetyl, when used in artificial butter flavoring (as used in many consumer foods), may be hazardous when heated and inhaled over a long period.
Workers in several factories that manufacture artificial butter flavoring have been diagnosed with bronchiolitis obliterans, a rare and serious disease of the lungs. The cases found have been mainly in young, healthy, nonsmoking males. As with other end-stage lung diseases, transplantation is currently the most viable treatment option. However, lung transplant rejection is very common and happens to be another setting in which bronchiolitis obliterans is known to occur.
While several authorities have called the disease "popcorn worker's lung", a more accurate term suggested by other doctors may be more appropriate, since the disease can occur in any industry working with diacetyl: diacetyl-induced bronchiolitis obliterans.
I didn’t know that about the ingredients and "Weaver” popcorn. It just happened to be the brand I grabbed. Oh well, on with my shopping.
So I hadn’t left yet, I passed the wine section and I truly had to fight the urge. I love some Blackberry Merlot. Yummy! I haven’t had that particular wine in maybe over a year.
I kept it moving. I didn’t even really hesitate. I will get some in the future, but right now, I’m juicing and detoxing.
Always remember that it won’t kill you if you bypass that moment of desire. You can have it another time, well maybe, depending on what it is. LOL!
Just pause and let the moment pass. I made it out with what I came for, plus 1 box of popcorn. I’m actually proud of me. :-)
If I need to get somepopcorn, I shall not get microwave. It's not the healthier choice. just quicker.
What have you bypassed lately that you truly wanted, or what made you give in to something you maybe shouldn’t have?
