How many people found it hard to lose weight after pregnancy? Come on, raise your hand. MEEEEE!
When my ex husband and I decided to start a family, I weighed 139 lbs and I'm 5'6, I was 24 years old at the time.
I truly loved working out. I went to the gym a few times per week.
I had gotten off the birth control pill, but didn't want to get pregnant right away, meaning the 1st 30 days off of the pill. So we were careful.
The next month, however I changed my mind. He was a little disappointed, but I just didn't feel ready. We had been married for 5 years, but I didn't feel ready. Some friends of ours had gotten pregnant so pressure was all around.
My ex husband didn't pressure me though, and because he didn't i changed my mind the very next month.
I got pregnant on the 1st try!!!! The very next month., I said "honey I'm ovulating, let's go, come on!" LOL!
I know most people love being pregnant, but my pregnancy was horrendous. I was dizzy at 2 weeks. Had to go to the ER at 5 weeks, because I as so dizzy.
The DR took me off work for 30 days. Then another 60! I thought OMG!!
It was so bad, I had to slide off the bed and crawl just to go to the bathroom. I was too dizzy to stand up.
I didn't start showing until I was 5 months. My stomach remained super flat until then.
I tried to go back to work for just half a day, but I could never even make it a full hour. I was calling someone my brother, my mother etc to come pick me up. So I was back at home, not working. Ugh!
I wanted to work up to the time I delivered, but I couldn't do it.
I tried one more time and this time a co worker had to take me home. They brought a wheelchair to my desk.
Instead of getting on the elevator they bypassed it. I was thinking, Uh oh. Personnel said "Kim we want you to stay home until you have the baby. It's not safe for you or for us, because something could happen to you." So back home I went, to stay.
I didn't want to go back to work, actually I wanted to breastfeed and stay home with my child. I couldn't, of course quit my job.
They held my position for months, until finally they had to fill it. I pretended to be sad when they called, saying I understood, because I did. LOL!
I was elated, because if they didn't have a position for me after maternity leave, I could stay home. I didn't have to quit.
Months 7-9, I blew up! I became huge. My mom came over every morning after my husband went to work and cooked me breakfast. Mostly grits, toast made only the way she can make them, yummy, and sausage or bacon and eggs. I was in Heaven!!!
All I kept by my bed was a super large cup of ice, that I chewed on constantly. I had iron deficiency. I was in the bed 9 months, so of course I gained weight, there is nothing to feel guilty about. I had a beautiful human growing inside of me.
OMGawd! You didn't ask for all this backdrop, huh? Sorry guys.
So anywho, when in lamaze class they say statistically 10% will have a c-section. Okay, who do you think in my class had the c-section? Come on, I'll give you one guess, it rhymes with slim.
I couldn't believe it. So out popped a beautiful girl! I think I got up to maybe almost 200lbs. I lost some after she was born.
I couldn't exercise yet. I waited 9 months actually. That's when I went back to work. I joined a gym. I did this diet a friend gave me. Some weight loss center, they are not around now.
She gave me the eating guide. I believe it was 2 fruits, 2 starches, 2 meats and 2 veggies per day. The first 3 days i think it was steak only. I can't remember, maybe it was quick weight loss center.
i lost 23 lbs in 6 weeks! Yeay! It was the jump I needed, i was back working somewhere else, that I actually liked. I didn't keep up that diet after the 6 weeks, I just ate healthy and worked out and eventually the weight came off. I drank plenty of water daily.
Good things about muscle is that it has memory. So as long as I was consistent off it came. I don't think I got back down to 130 though. LOL!
I'm not saying it was easy. It was worth it though. i came home i would cook and do about 600 situps of different variations. Believe me not hard as it sounds. then I'd go to the gym, leaving those 2 at home.
